Rajouri/Jammu: A three-metre-long python was captured in Rajal village of Nowshera tehsil, Rajouri district, after a prolonged rescue operation that lasted several hours, officials said on Wednesday.
Locals had informed the wildlife department on Tuesday after spotting the massive reptile coiled inside a cattle shed. A team from the department immediately rushed to the area and discovered the python hiding in a haystack. It took them hours of careful effort to safely extricate and capture the snake.
This is the second such incident in Nowshera tehsil in less than a month. On September 23, a joint team of the wildlife department and police had captured another python weighing nearly 55 kilograms from Manpur village.
