Punjab Police Bust Cross-Border Drug Smuggling Module Linked to Pakistan

Chandigarh: Punjab Police on Thursday unearthed a cross-border narcotics smuggling module with alleged links to Pakistan and arrested the key accused, identified as Rajpal Singh. Over 5 kg of heroin was recovered from his possession.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said on X that the Amritsar Commissionerate Police, acting on intelligence inputs, busted the module and apprehended the “drug kingpin” Rajpal Singh, recovering 5.025 kg of heroin.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was running a cross-border network in coordination with a Pakistan-based handler, using the Dera Baba Nanak sector to retrieve drug consignments.

An FIR has been registered at Chheharta police station in Amritsar, and further investigation is underway to uncover the entire network, including its backward and forward linkages, the DGP added.
