Joint Inspection Conducted in Ukhral to Enforce Drug Control Regulations
RAMBAN: Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan, a joint inspection drive was carried out in the Ukhral area by teams from the Revenue Department, Police, and Drug Control authorities to ensure strict compliance with drug control laws and address related safety concerns.
The inspection followed directions issued by the Deputy Commissioner during a meeting of the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD), convened to review anti-drug trafficking measures, substance abuse control, and safety mechanisms across the district.
The drive focused on verifying that chemist shops operate strictly within legal parameters and are not engaged in the unlawful sale of psychotropic substances. Teams also inspected CCTV installations at medical outlets to strengthen surveillance and accountability.
The initiative aims to deter illegal practices, enhance transparency in the pharmaceutical sector, and ensure responsible business operations. Inspection teams scrutinized sales records and compliance with regulations governing the sale of psychotropic drugs requiring controlled dispensation.
Medical shop owners were instructed to follow all prescribed norms and refrain from selling psychotropic medicines without valid prescriptions. They were also directed to maintain adequate stocks of essential drugs to avoid inconvenience to genuine patients.
