J&K Among First to Fully Implement National Education Policy: LG Manoj Sinha
SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the NEP Conclave 2025, organised by the Higher Education Department, and lauded the collective efforts of all stakeholders for the swift implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) in Jammu and Kashmir.
“It is a matter of pride that Jammu and Kashmir is among the first in the country to implement the National Education Policy across all higher educational institutions in the Union Territory,” the Lieutenant Governor said, highlighting the UT’s proactive approach toward educational reforms.




LG Sinha said universities and colleges in J&K are developing a future-ready academic ecosystem that is inclusive, innovative, and impactful.
“Our aim is to empower every student of Jammu and Kashmir to realise their potential, uphold the spirit of Viksit Bharat @2047, and emerge as proud contributors to the nation’s growth story,” he added.
The Lieutenant Governor said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu and Kashmir is transforming its higher education landscape to meet the challenges of an evolving world. He asserted that the rise of the Artificial Intelligence Age, coupled with India’s traditional values, would play a key role in realising the dream of a developed India.
“The amalgamation of technological advancement and Indian ethos in higher education institutions will help address future challenges and drive strong economic growth,” LG Sinha said.
He noted that the National Education Policy aims to reduce inequality, expand opportunity, and promote a forward-looking education system that equips youth with critical thinking skills and lifelong learning capabilities.
“Our higher education institutions have embraced interdisciplinary and project-based learning, moving away from traditional, compartmentalised subjects to bridge the gap between academia and the real world. This approach will empower youth, enhance their skills, and ensure professional growth,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
LG Sinha also emphasised the need for a robust monitoring mechanism to ensure research projects are innovative, future-oriented, and contribute to the expansion of society’s knowledge base. He urged all higher education institutions to implement innovative programmes like ‘Design Your Own Degree’ in a time-bound manner and to collaborate and share resources to bring about holistic transformation in the higher education sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
The event was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Prof. Dinesh Singh, Vice Chairman, Higher Education Council J&K, Shantmanu, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education Department, vice chancellors, senior officials, heads of educational institutions, faculty members, and students.
