Baramulla: The Army recovered two old shells during a search operation in the Dogripora forest area of Rafiabad in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Officials said the shells were later destroyed safely by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS).
According to defence sources, troops of the 32 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) spotted two suspicious metallic objects while conducting a routine search in the forest area. The site was immediately cordoned off, and a BDS team was called in to examine and neutralize the explosives.
After a thorough technical assessment and following all safety protocols, both shells were destroyed in a controlled explosion. “The operation was carried out smoothly without any damage or injury. The recovered shells were found to be old and rusted,” officials added.
