Jammu: A high-level delegation from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Wednesday reviewed the proposal to expand Kishtwar airport under the Centre’s UDAN scheme.
The team visited the proposed site to conduct a ground-level assessment of the area and examine the feasibility of the project. They also held detailed discussions with local officials.
“A five-member special team from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and AAI arrived in Kishtwar to evaluate the current status of the airport expansion proposal under the UDAN scheme,” a district official said.
The team will submit its findings to higher authorities, based on which the next course of action will be decided.
Earlier this year, Union Minister Jitendra Singh announced that Kishtwar would get a full-fledged airport facility with an upgraded airstrip near the Chaugan ground. He said the project would ensure round-the-year aircraft operations, boosting connectivity and regional development.
