Leh: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, today reviewed the preparations for the upcoming celebrations of the Union Territory Ladakh Foundation Day and Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, to be observed on October 31.

Chairing a high-level meeting, the Lt Governor was briefed by Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Chief Secretary; Dr. S.D. Singh Jamwal, DGP Ladakh; Administrative Secretaries; SSP Leh; Heads of Departments; Directors; and other senior officials about the arrangements in place for the twin events.

The Chief Secretary informed that a series of programmes have been planned to mark these significant occasions — the Foundation Day of the Union Territory and the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India and architect of national unity.

As part of the celebrations, a ‘Run for Unity’ will be organised from Raj Niwas, to be flagged off by the Lt Governor. The event will witness enthusiastic participation from students, NCC cadets, and government officials, reflecting the collective spirit of unity and integrity inspired by Sardar Patel.

The DGP apprised that the Ladakh Police will also host a special event at the District Police Lines, where the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge will be administered to reaffirm commitment to national integration and harmony.

The Lt Governor reviewed the departmental arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of all events and emphasised active participation from Administrative Secretaries, Heads of Departments, Directors, and senior officers.

He further directed the Deputy Commissioner, Leh, to prepare a list of prominent citizens of Ladakh and ensure their meaningful participation in the Foundation Day and Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations.
