Udhampur: The Jammu and Kashmir Fire and Emergency Department in Udhampur successfully prevented a major fire from spreading to a large heap of stubble (used as cattle fodder) near the busy Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Officials said the blaze, which erupted on Wednesday afternoon, posed a significant threat to vehicles passing through the area but was quickly contained.
Assistant Director of Fire and Emergency Department, Udhampur-Reasi, Sarvesh Langer, told the media, “We received a fire call in the afternoon from the Tharad area, where dry grass had caught fire. Fire tenders were immediately dispatched from the Udhampur Fire Station, and the flames were brought under control promptly.”
