Symposium and cultural programmes on “Nasha Mukt Bharat” held at Purmandal and Dhoon schools

JAMMU: As part of the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan,” the Cultural Unit of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Jammu, organized symposiums and cultural programmes at Government Higher Secondary School, Purmandal (Samba) and Government Middle School, Dhoon (Jammu). The events aimed to raise awareness among students and the community about the harmful effects of drug abuse.

At Government Higher Secondary School, Purmandal, twenty-one students participated in a symposium and cultural activities, presenting poems, skits, and dances focused on the importance of a drug-free life and youth empowerment. Their performances were widely appreciated for their creativity and impactful messaging.

The competition was judged by Nidhi Mahajan, Kanwaljeet Kour, and Kiran Salgotra. Bhawana Bhagat won the first prize, Anishika Bhagat secured second place, and Mansi Devi bagged the third prize, while Sahil Singh and Radhika Dubey received consolation prizes.

The Chief Guest and Principal, Aruna, praised the Department for organizing such meaningful events that inspire youth to adopt a drug-free and responsible lifestyle.

Meanwhile, at Government Middle School, Dhoon (Jammu), nine students participated in a symposium highlighting the ill effects of drug addiction and the need for collective efforts to eradicate the menace. The event was judged by Gharu Ram, Sachin Sharma, and Parvez Akhter.

Kunal Sangotra clinched the first prize, followed by Jivika Sharma in second place and Vansh Sangotra in third. Jatin Sangotra and Anjali Devi received consolation prizes.

The Chief Guest and Head Master, Parvez Akhter, lauded the Department’s initiative to spread awareness through creative and participatory formats such as symposiums and cultural performances, which effectively engage young minds.

Both events witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and officials of the Information Department, reaffirming their commitment to building a “Nasha Mukt Bharat” (Drug-Free India) through awareness, education, and collective action.

The programmes were held under the guidance of the Joint Director Information, Jammu, and the supervision of the Cultural Officer, Department of Information and Public Relations, Jammu.
