Javid Dar inaugurates Mission YUVA Model Small Business Development Unit at Baramulla
BARAMULLA: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Cooperative and Election Departments, Javid Ahmed Dar, today inaugurated the Mission YUVA Model Small Business Development Unit (SBDU) at Baramulla, aimed at fostering entrepreneurship, promoting self-employment, and empowering youth across the district.
The event witnessed the presence of MLA Baramulla Javid Hassan Beigh, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Director Employment-cum-Mission Director Mission YUVA, officers from various departments, entrepreneurs, and a large gathering of locals.


Speaking on the occasion, Javid Dar said the establishment of the Mission YUVA SBDU at Baramulla represents a significant step towards equipping youth with the necessary guidance, training, and financial support to start their own ventures. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem and generating employment through innovative policies and institutional backing.
The Minister added that the SBDU will function as a one-stop support hub for entrepreneurs, providing business advisory services, project report preparation, credit facilitation, and capacity-building programmes. He encouraged the youth to fully utilize the Mission YUVA platform to transform their innovative ideas into successful business enterprises, thereby contributing to the region’s economic growth.
In his address, MLA Baramulla Javid Hassan Beigh lauded the government’s focus on youth empowerment and commended the district administration for implementing initiatives that promote innovation and entrepreneurship at the grassroots level. He emphasized the need for more awareness programmes under Mission YUVA to reach unemployed youth and motivate them to benefit from such schemes.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla reiterated the administration’s commitment to supporting aspiring entrepreneurs through timely guidance, mentoring, and effective coordination of departmental schemes to ensure impactful results.
Director Employment-cum-Mission Director Mission YUVA highlighted that the initiative aims to create a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem by offering comprehensive support—from idea generation and project formulation to financing and skill enhancement—helping youth build sustainable livelihoods.
Earlier, the Minister inspected stalls set up by young entrepreneurs under Mission YUVA, showcasing innovative products, services, and business models. He interacted with the beneficiaries, appreciated their efforts, and assured continued government support for local enterprise development.
On the occasion, cheques worth ₹23 lakh were distributed among selected entrepreneurs under Mission YUVA, while sanction letters were handed over to ten beneficiaries for setting up new enterprises. The Minister also distributed certificates to participants who successfully completed the Hybrid Capacity Building Training Course under the Mission.
