SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah yesterday laid the foundation stone for the Central Veterinary Hospital at Athwajan, Srinagar, marking a significant milestone in strengthening Jammu and Kashmir’s veterinary healthcare infrastructure.

The hospital, to be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹11.91 crore, will be developed as a state-of-the-art facility offering advanced veterinary treatment, diagnostics, and animal welfare services. The project, being executed by the Public Works (R&B) Department, aims to cater to the growing needs of livestock owners and dairy farmers in the region.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the establishment of the hospital will greatly benefit livestock farmers by providing modern healthcare, disease management, and emergency services under one roof. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the livestock and dairy sectors, describing them as vital pillars of the rural economy.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Chief Minister, and Ahsan Pardesi, MLA Lal Chowk. Senior officials from the Agriculture Production Department and Public Works (R&B) Department were also present at the event.
