ATF prices up 1%, commercial LPG down ₹5 per cylinder in monthly revision

New Delhi: Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices were raised by about 1 per cent, while commercial LPG rates were trimmed by ₹5 per cylinder on Saturday as part of the monthly price revision aligned with global benchmarks.

In Delhi, ATF prices rose by ₹777 per kilolitre, or 0.8 per cent, to ₹94,543.02 per kl, according to state-run fuel retailers. This marks the second consecutive monthly hike, following a 3.3 per cent increase (₹3,052.5 per kl) on October 1. Before that, prices were cut by 1.4 per cent in September.

The latest rise is expected to add pressure on airlines, as jet fuel accounts for nearly 40 per cent of their operating expenses.

In other major cities, ATF prices were revised to ₹88,444.87 per kl in Mumbai, ₹98,089.68 per kl in Chennai, and ₹97,549.18 per kl in Kolkata. Rates vary across cities due to local taxes such as VAT.

Meanwhile, the price of commercial LPG — widely used in hotels and restaurants — was reduced by ₹5 per 19-kg cylinder to ₹1,590.50 in Delhi. This follows a ₹15.50 hike last month, after which prices had been cut six times since April, amounting to a total reduction of ₹223 per cylinder.

Oil prices have largely remained stable since the previous revision.

There was no change in the rate of domestic LPG used for household cooking, which remains at ₹853 per 14.2-kg cylinder. The last increase of ₹50 per cylinder came in April.

State-run oil companies — Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) — adjust ATF and LPG prices on the first day of every month based on global fuel prices and exchange rates.

Domestic petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged since mid-March last year, when rates were cut by ₹2 per litre ahead of general elections. Currently, petrol costs ₹94.72 per litre in Delhi, while diesel is priced at ₹87.62.
