JAVID DAR LAUNCHES STOCKING OF IMPORTED BROWN TROUT SEED IN KULGAM
KULGAM: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Cooperatives and Election Departments, Javid Ahmad Dar today visited Kulgam and launched the stocking of imported Brown Trout seed across various streams in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister highlighted the vast potential of trout farming in the region, stating that it can significantly contribute to boosting the local economy and generating sustainable livelihood opportunities. He emphasized the Government’s commitment to promoting aquaculture and self-employment initiatives aimed at empowering youth and strengthening the rural economy through innovative livelihood programmes.



During the event, the Minister was apprised that about 3 lakh imported Brown Trout seeds from Denmark, developed and reared at the Trout Hatchery in Tchanser, Kulgam, will be stocked across different streams of Jammu and Kashmir to enhance fish production.
The launch event was attended by DDC Chairperson Kulgam Mohammad Afzal Parrey, MLA Devsar Peerzada Feroze, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Athar Aamir Khan, Director Fisheries Abdul Majeed Tak, and other senior officers from the district administration and Fisheries Department.
