DODA: In a major step towards enhancing regional connectivity and offering faster travel options, the long-awaited helicopter service between Doda and Jammu was officially inaugurated today. The new service is set to bridge the distance between the remote mountainous district and Jammu, providing residents with a safe, affordable, and time-efficient mode of transportation.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by District Development Council (DDC) Chairman Dhananter Singh Kotwal and Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, who hailed the launch as a milestone initiative that will significantly improve mobility and strengthen emergency response capabilities in the region. The fare for a one-way ticket has been set at ₹2,500 per person, ensuring that the service remains accessible to people from all sections of society.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh stated, “The administration has been consistently working to improve connectivity in this hilly region. With the commencement of the Doda–Jammu helicopter service, residents now have a dependable and swift travel option, especially during medical emergencies or adverse weather conditions. We are committed to ensuring smooth operations and maximizing the benefits for the people of Doda.”
To facilitate easy access, the District Administration Doda has set up an Information Cell in the DC Office Complex to help passengers with bookings, flight schedules, and other travel-related assistance. Likewise, travelers from Jammu to Doda can reach out to the Directorate of Tourism Office in Jammu for information and support. The Deputy Commissioner added that the fare has been subsidized to make the service affordable and inclusive.
During the launch, three passengers from Jammu were warmly welcomed by the district administration upon their arrival in Doda. They expressed delight with the new service, describing their journey as comfortable, safe, and a welcome alternative to the long road travel.
The introduction of this helicopter service has been widely applauded by local residents, who thanked the administration for making air travel both accessible and economical. The launch marks a new chapter in Doda’s connectivity story—reflecting the government’s commitment to strengthening transport infrastructure, boosting regional development, and bringing essential services closer to the people.
