Sunny Kaushal Celebrates Mother’s Birthday with a Heartwarming Karaoke Tribute

Mumbai: Actor Sunny Kaushal celebrated his mother’s birthday in the sweetest way possible. Taking to social media, Sunny shared a video of himself singing the “Happy Birthday” song for his mother on a karaoke speaker. Alongside the clip, he wrote a simple yet touching caption: “Happy birthday to you, Maa.”

In the video, his mother can be seen laughing heartily as Sunny sings the song in a playful, funny manner. Adding to the family celebration, Sunny’s elder brother, actor Vicky Kaushal, also shared a loving birthday post for their mother. Posting a warm picture of himself hugging her, Vicky wrote, “Happy Birthday, Maate.” The photo captured a joyful moment, with Mrs. Kaushal beaming beside her son.

On the work front, Sunny Kaushal recently unveiled his Punjabi rap track “Mid Air Freeverse.” Talking about the song, he revealed that his introduction to rap came through Eminem, famously known as the “Rap God.” The idea for the song struck him mid-flight from Delhi to Mumbai after a small incident. “I was running late to the airport and missed my coffee. When I finally got one on the plane, I burned my tongue — that’s how the first line of the song came to me,” Sunny shared.

During the two-hour flight, Sunny penned the lyrics on paper. He added that his passion for writing began during the pandemic when film shoots were halted. “Writing became a creative outlet for me,” he said. Discovering his natural flair for lyricism, Sunny began studying the art of rap — learning techniques, rhyme patterns, and delivery through online videos.

The actor counts Eminem, Bohemia, and Karan Aujla among his musical inspirations. “Lose Yourself was my first hip-hop song. Then Bohemia amazed me by bringing rap to Punjabi. Poetry, for me, is like journalling my emotions,” Sunny said.

Before becoming an actor, Sunny started his career behind the scenes as an assistant director on films like “My Friend Pinto” and “Gunday.” He made his acting debut in the 2016 comedy-drama “Sunshine Music Tours and Travels” and rose to fame with his performance in “Gold.”

Since then, he has featured in notable projects such as the web series “The Forgotten Army – Azaadi Ke Liye” and films including “Shiddat,” “Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga,” and “Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba.”
