Srinagar: In a positive development for Kashmir’s tourism sector, film shootings have resumed in the Valley, six months after the tragic Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.
A Telugu film crew has started shooting at the picturesque Pahalgam resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district — the same location where the April 22 attack took place.
The comedy film is directed by Vimal Krishna, known for movies like Jessie and Ladies & Gentleman.
Speaking to reporters, Krishna said Kashmir is completely safe for tourists and filmmakers.
“I want to thank every Kashmiri. We are the first team to come here for shooting, and I can say it is 100 per cent safe. We feel completely secure and welcome. I hope more tourists visit Kashmir in the coming days,” he said.
Explaining his choice of location, Krishna said he was searching for a scenic setting and found the perfect backdrop in Kashmir.
“I thought, why not Kashmir? It is totally safe now. When we came for a recce in July, we faced no issues. We have been treated exceptionally well by the government, security forces, and especially the locals, who made us feel like family,” he added.
The director also confirmed that after completing the Pahalgam schedule, the crew will move to Srinagar for the next phase of the shoot.
