Bengaluru: The Nasscom Foundation on Wednesday announced a partnership with the ONDC Network to empower women entrepreneurs in Karnataka by integrating them into the mainstream e-commerce ecosystem.
Under this collaboration, 200 women-led enterprises have been onboarded to the ONDC Network, giving them access to larger digital marketplaces, expanding their entrepreneurial opportunities, and accelerating their business growth.
With a focus on sustainable development, the initiative supports sellers from sectors such as handicrafts, handloom, and manufacturing, helping them enhance income potential and achieve long-term business success.
“India’s e-commerce market is projected to overtake the US and become the second largest globally by 2034. However, many small and medium sellers—particularly women—still lack the digital know-how to fully benefit from this growth,” said Jyoti Sharma, CEO, Nasscom Foundation.
“Our partnership with ONDC has helped bridge this gap by empowering 200 women entrepreneurs with digital and entrepreneurial skills, providing them equal opportunities and sustainable access to online markets,” she added.
The programme spans 22 districts across Karnataka, including both rural and urban areas such as Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hubballi, Channapatna, Belgaum, and Udupi. It directly addresses challenges faced by women entrepreneurs—limited market access, lack of digital and financial literacy, and minimal exposure to e-commerce platforms.
Participants received hands-on training, assistance in product cataloguing, and GST registration. The initiative also facilitated stakeholder engagement, regular governance, and quality assurance to ensure continued growth and accountability.
By equipping women with the tools, skills, and market linkages needed to thrive, the initiative aims to strengthen their participation in the digital economy and promote inclusive growth.
“Every woman entrepreneur represents resilience and aspiration. Through this collaboration, ONDC is providing the digital infrastructure to connect their businesses with wider markets,” said Vibhor Jain, Acting CEO and COO, ONDC Network.
“The real impact lies in how these women are embracing technology, developing new capabilities, and transforming their enterprises for the future,” he added.
