Mumbai: Actress Tanya Maniktala has taken a significant leap in her career as she officially relocates from New Delhi to Mumbai — the heart of India’s film industry.
Sharing her excitement about the move, Tanya told IANS, “Mumbai is the dream of every cinema lover. It’s a city that breathes cinema, and being here feels like being in the middle of all the action. Mumbai has given me countless opportunities to fulfill my dreams. Every project I’ve done here has helped me evolve — both as an actor and as a person.”
While Tanya is embracing this new chapter, she said that Delhi will always remain home. “It’s where my roots, my family, and my memories are. But Mumbai is where my heart stays. With several projects and commitments lined up here, it feels like the right time to make this shift,” she added.
Tanya will next appear in Paan Parda Zarda, a gritty drama set in the underworld, revolving around the illegal opium trade in central India. The show promises an intense storyline filled with layered characters, emotional depth, and high-stakes action. It also stars Priyanshu Painyuli, Sushant Singh, Rajesh Tailang, and Manu Rishi.
Apart from this, Tanya will be seen alongside Rajkummar Rao in filmmaker Aditya Nimbalkar’s upcoming film, which explores the challenges within India’s education system.
A source close to the production shared, “This film is deeply personal for everyone involved. Aditya has handled the subject with great sensitivity, and both Rajkummar and Tanya bring exceptional depth to their performances. Tanya’s character embodies the voice of countless young Indians navigating the pressures of a demanding system.”
Written and directed by Nimbalkar, the film delves into the academic pressures, emotional turmoil, and systemic challenges faced by students and educators.
Tanya began her acting journey in 2018 with School Days and gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Lata Mehra in A Suitable Boy (2020) alongside Ishaan Khatter — a role that marked a major breakthrough in her career.
She went on to feature in Feels Like Ishq (2021), Chutzpah, and How To Fall In Love. Tanya made her Hindi film debut with Mumbaikar, co-starring Vijay Sethupathi and Vikrant Massey, and later appeared in Tooth Pari, P.I. Meena, and Flames Season 3.
In 2024, she was seen as Tulika in her second film, Kill, inspired by a real-life train robbery incident from 1995, alongside Lakshya Lalwani and Raghav Juyal.
