New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday met the World Cup-winning Indian women’s cricket team at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where captain Harmanpreet Kaur presented her with a team jersey signed by all the players.

India recently scripted history by winning their maiden global title in women’s cricket, defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup final in Navi Mumbai on Sunday — a landmark moment for the nation’s sporting landscape.

Congratulating the team, President Murmu said the players had not only created history but had also emerged as role models for the younger generation.

“Members of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team, winners of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President congratulated the team and said they have created history and become role models for the younger generation.

She added that this team truly reflects India — representing different regions, backgrounds, and circumstances, yet united as one Team India,” read a post on the official X handle of the President of India.
