New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed an FIR against former Punjab DGP Mohammad Mustafa, his wife and ex-PWD minister Razia Sultana, and others in connection with the alleged murder of their son, Aquil Akhtar (35), who was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Panchkula, Haryana, on October 16, officials said.

According to the FIR, there had been ongoing tension between Akhtar and his family.

“The CBI has registered an FIR in the Aqil Akhter murder case on November 6 based on allegations that he, the son of Mohammad Mustafa and Razia Sultana, died under suspicious circumstances at his residence near Mansa Devi Mandir, Sector 4, Panchkula,” the agency said in a late-night statement.

The FIR names Mustafa, Sultana, Akhter’s wife, and his sister under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to murder and criminal conspiracy, the CBI added.

The agency also cited a video Akhtar posted on August 27, in which he alleged discovering “illicit relations” between his wife and father, and accused his entire family—including his mother and sister—of plotting to kill him or falsely implicate him in a case.

The case, initially investigated by Panchkula Police, was later transferred to the CBI by the Haryana government.
