Jammu: The Army’s White Knight Corps on Friday celebrated the 150th anniversary of the National Song “Vande Mataram” with events held across war memorials, schools, and forward posts throughout its area of responsibility, a defence spokesperson said.
The celebration sought to reignite patriotic fervour and remind the younger generation of the enduring ideals of unity, freedom, and devotion to the motherland embodied in the iconic song, the spokesperson added.
The commemorative programmes featured cultural performances, including patriotic songs, speeches, and student-led presentations highlighting the legacy of “Vande Mataram” and its vital role in India’s freedom struggle.
Army personnel interacted with students, sharing inspiring stories of national pride and sacrifice, encouraging them to uphold the values of discipline, service, and love for the nation.
The event drew enthusiastic participation from students and local residents, generating a strong sense of national unity and pride. Teachers and community members expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for organising such initiatives that strengthen the bond between the Armed Forces and civilians.
Through these celebrations, the Army reaffirmed its commitment to promoting patriotism, unity, and harmony among the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, a police spokesperson said a grand event was organised at Jammu & Kashmir Police Public School, Miran Sahib, as part of the nationwide commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the National Song, in line with the Union Government’s directive.
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu also marked the occasion at its Jagti Campus, where a live telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address was arranged, the institute’s spokesperson said.
