Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that robust infrastructure is a key driver of economic growth in developed nations, and India too is rapidly advancing on the path of development.

Addressing a gathering after flagging off four new Vande Bharat Express trains from the Banaras railway station in his Lok Sabha constituency, Modi said that pilgrimage sites serve as hubs of spirituality and that the developmental work carried out in Uttar Pradesh over the past 11 years has elevated them to new heights.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present at the event.

The newly launched Vande Bharat Express trains will operate on the Banaras–Khajuraho, Lucknow–Saharanpur, Firozpur–Delhi, and Ernakulam–Bengaluru routes.

According to an official statement, these semi-high-speed trains will greatly reduce travel time between major destinations, boost regional connectivity, encourage tourism, and stimulate economic activity across the country.
