SITAMARHI (Bihar): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that people in Bihar were rejecting the RJD-led opposition out of fear that if the INDIA bloc came to power, its regime would “put a katta (country-made pistol) at their heads.”

Addressing an election rally in Sitamarhi, Modi contrasted this with the NDA’s focus on promoting start-ups, education, and sports.

“I am shocked to hear that the RJD is making children say they want to become rangdaars (street bullies) when they grow up. Bihar does not want a government defined by katta (guns), kushasan (misgovernance), kroorta (cruelty), and corruption,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister, who has addressed over a dozen rallies since the announcement of the state elections, added, “Wherever I go, people say they do not want a katta sarkar but an NDA government again.”

He said the NDA promotes education and opportunity — “not katta, but school bags, computers, cricket bats, and hockey sticks.” Modi added, “People don’t want to be told to raise their hands in fear — they want start-ups, and the NDA will deliver that.”

Lauding the 65.08% voter turnout in the first phase of polling, Modi said, “You have given a big shock to the opposition — they are losing sleep.” He claimed the high turnout reflected strong support for the NDA.

Referring to the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyami Yojana, under which ₹10,000 has been transferred to over one crore women, Modi said such schemes were possible only under the NDA.

“This would never have happened under the jungle raj. Remember what the Congress leader’s father — the then Prime Minister — said: only 15 paise of every rupee reached the people. You all know the blood-stained hand responsible for that loot,” Modi said, in an apparent reference to Rahul Gandhi, his late father Rajiv Gandhi, and the Congress party’s election symbol.

Highlighting the NDA’s commitment to heritage, Modi mentioned the Punaura Dham project in Sitamarhi — the birthplace of Goddess Sita — and criticised the Congress for “insulting” Hindu traditions.

“The naamdaar of Congress insulted the faith of mothers and sisters by calling the Chhath festival a drama. Should they not be punished for this insult? In a democracy, your vote is the power to punish,” he said.

Accusing the RJD-Congress alliance of “vote bank politics,” Modi said, “They have boycotted the Ram temple and even the shrines of Mata Shabri, Maharshi Valmiki, and Nishad Raj in Ayodhya. Those driven by vote bank politics cannot do good for Bihar — they even go so far as to protect infiltrators.”
