Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo Reviews Developmental Projects and Flagship Schemes in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Saturday conducted an extensive review of developmental works and flagship government initiatives during his visit to Udhampur district.

The review meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Saloni Rai, Senior Superintendent of Police Amod Ashok Nagpure, and senior officers from various departments.

During the visit, the Chief Secretary directed the district administration to prioritize improving road connectivity and expanding mobile network coverage in the Dudu-Basantgarh area to enhance accessibility and communication infrastructure.

Emphasizing full coverage of all eligible beneficiaries under government schemes, Dulloo called for enhanced inter-departmental coordination, transparency, and commitment in execution. He urged officers to ensure time-bound completion of projects with accountability and dedication toward the district’s overall development.

Reviewing the education sector, he instructed the Chief Education Officer to ensure quality education in all government schools and strictly monitor teachers’ biometric attendance. He also directed officers to conduct regular field visits to assess on-ground progress and asked the Deputy Commissioner to hold department-wise review meetings for timely completion of works.

Highlighting youth empowerment, the Chief Secretary stressed capitalizing Self Help Groups, promoting self-employment schemes, and engaging youth under Mission YUVA. He instructed the SE, PWD, to expedite ongoing projects and ensure targets are met, while directing the UEED to take concrete steps for rejuvenating the Devika River.

Reviewing PMGSY (Phases I, II & III) projects, Dulloo asked officials to accelerate execution by deploying adequate manpower and machinery to meet deadlines.

During the review of Government Medical College (GMC) Udhampur, the Chief Secretary called for strengthening critical care services and introducing super-specialty departments in Cardiology, Neurology, and Oncology. He also suggested exploring the possibility of increasing student intake and starting postgraduate programs in the future.

The Chief Secretary directed bankers to organize financial awareness programmes, boost loan sanctioning under government-sponsored schemes, and ensure effective follow-up under Mission YUVA. He also instructed the SE, JPDCL, to promote household adoption of solar power under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

Later, Dulloo inspected the ongoing construction of GMC Udhampur. The SE, PWD, briefed him about the project’s progress, following which the Chief Secretary directed the executing agency to adopt double-shift work schedules for timely completion and ensure optimal use of resources and manpower.

Earlier, DC Udhampur Saloni Rai gave a detailed presentation on the progress of key projects including the Chenani–Sudhmahadev road (NH-244), integrated development of tourist facilities at Mantalai and Sudhmahadev, rectification of black spots at Gole Mela and Sangoor, construction of GMC Udhampur, shifting of the ITI building, and augmentation of water supply under AMRUT 2.0.

She also reviewed achievements under PWD, Social Welfare, Education, PMGSY, MGNREGA, SBM-G, RGSA, NRLM, NTEP, RDSS, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, Mission YUVA, Agriculture, DIC, Handloom, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, HADP, JJM, Devika Project, Land Record Digitization, and the District Capex Budget, among others.
