Writers, Thinkers Play Vital Role in Strengthening Social Unity and Progress: LG Manoj Sinha

JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today delivered the keynote address at the Ghazipur Literature Festival, highlighting the pivotal role of writers and thinkers in shaping a progressive and harmonious society.

Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said that writers and thinkers hold a unique position in society, carrying the responsibility of promoting equality, justice, and fraternity. “They must use their creative power to drive social change and make the world more aware and sensitive to its duties,” he remarked.

Organised by Bharat Dialogues, the festival brought together eminent authors, scholars, artists, and policymakers from the Indian diaspora in Mauritius, South Africa, Suriname, Fiji, Norway, and several other countries to celebrate shared heritage, ideas, and identity. High Commissioner of South Africa in India, Prof. Anil Sooklal, and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sangeeta Balwant were among the special guests.

Speaking on the global contribution of the Indian diaspora, LG Sinha said, “With hard work, integrity, dedication, and adherence to ancient values, the Indian diaspora has earned worldwide respect while strengthening international ties.”

Calling upon writers and thinkers to act as a bridge between society and diverse perspectives, the LG urged them to reinforce the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.

“Literature, new ideas, and perspectives give strength to society. Without them, a nation may physically exist but will lack the intellectual and cultural tools for rapid growth and transformation,” he said, adding that literature, knowledge, and critical thinking ensure society remains dynamic—“like a moving river.”

LG Sinha also appealed to writers, thinkers, and citizens to embrace ten resolutions aimed at building a strong and developed India—preserving knowledge and true history, promoting moral values and social change, encouraging critical thinking and innovation, fostering unity through diversity, empowering youth, strengthening Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, and enhancing Jan-Bhagidari (people’s participation) in governance.

On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor also released the book “Bhojpuri Kahavaton Ki Duniya” authored by Shri Sanjeev Kumar Gupta.
