Joint Team Conducts Inspection of Chemist Shops in Banihal
RAMBAN: Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, and SSP Ramban, Arun Gupta, a joint inspection team comprising Police and the Drug Inspector carried out surprise checks in the Banihal area to ensure compliance with drug control regulations and address public safety concerns.
The directions were issued during a meeting of the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD), chaired by the Deputy Commissioner, which reviewed issues related to drug trafficking, substance abuse, and related health and safety challenges in the district.
The inspections, conducted in coordination with the Revenue, Drug Control, and Police Departments, aim to enforce strict adherence to norms regulating the sale and distribution of pharmaceutical substances.
A major focus of the exercise was to prevent the illegal sale of psychotropic drugs and verify the functionality of CCTV cameras in chemist shops — a key step toward enhancing transparency and accountability in the pharmaceutical trade.
Inspection teams also scrutinized record-keeping practices of pharmacies, especially concerning the sale of regulated psychotropic medicines requiring mandatory documentation.
The District Administration reiterated its commitment to maintaining vigilant oversight and ensuring a drug-free and safe environment throughout Ramban district.
