RAJOURI: In a decisive move against violations of traffic and transport regulations, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Rajouri, Rajesh Gupta, has suspended the licenses of six vehicles for breaching provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The enforcement action was taken under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, and Transport Commissioner J&K, Vishesh Paul Mahajan. Additionally, the registration of a Bolero Pick-up (JK11G-1217) has been suspended for its involvement in bovine smuggling.
Continuing the enforcement drive, the ARTO and his team conducted an early morning road-checking operation on the Chingus–Kallar stretch of the Rajouri–Poonch National Highway. During the drive, 200 vehicles were inspected, resulting in the issuance of 20 e-challans with a projected revenue of ₹55,000. Two driving licences were recommended for suspension, and one e-auto was seized at PP Kallar for unauthorised plying on the National Highway.
The ARTO reiterated that strict enforcement measures will continue to maintain road discipline and ensure full compliance with transport regulations across the district.
