Srinagar: Stepping up its crackdown on the terror network in Kashmir, the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Sunday conducted extensive searches across six districts in connection with the alleged misuse of SIM cards by terror operatives, officials said.

“The CIK is conducting searches across the Valley as part of an ongoing investigation into the misuse of SIM cards by anti-national elements and terror sympathisers,” officials confirmed.

The raids were carried out in Kulgam, Kunzer (Baramulla), Pulwama, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Srinagar, and Shopian districts. During the operation, the sleuths seized several SIM cards suspected to have been used for illegal activities.

In Kulgam, a man and his 20-year-old daughter were detained for questioning in connection with the terror overground network, though no formal arrests have been made so far, officials added.

The CIK, a specialised counter-insurgency wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, initiated the searches a day after police conducted a separate valley-wide operation targeting properties linked to J&K natives operating from Pakistan and involved in subversive activities against India.
