Srinagar: Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Sunday detained nine people, including a woman, during coordinated raids across the Valley as part of its intensified crackdown on online terror networks.
Acting on credible intelligence inputs regarding the glorification of terrorism and the radicalisation of youth through social media, CIK teams carried out searches at 10 locations in Srinagar, Kulgam, Baramulla, Shopian, and Pulwama districts.
“In a sweeping operation against online terror networks, CIK launched coordinated raids across Kashmir Valley today, sending a strong message against extremism and digital misuse,” a spokesperson said.
The operation, conducted in coordination with local police, focused on individuals allegedly using social media platforms to incite violence, spread anti-national propaganda, and promote communal hatred, the official added.
Nine suspects, including one woman, were detained during the raids. “A cache of incriminating material, including SIM cards, mobile phones, tablets, and other digital devices, has been seized for forensic analysis,” the spokesperson said.
The recovered material is expected to provide vital leads for the ongoing investigation and subsequent enforcement actions, he added.
“This operation reaffirms our commitment to maintaining public order and regional security by neutralising digital threats at their roots,” the spokesperson said, noting that the crackdown marks the beginning of a broader campaign against online terrorism and unlawful cyber activity.
He said more raids and detentions are likely in the coming days as authorities continue efforts to protect Kashmir’s youth from the influence of Pakistan-backed terror handlers and extremist ideologies.
