Mumbai (Maharashtra): Amid nationwide celebrations marking Team India’s historic maiden ICC Women’s World Cup triumph, former cricketing legends Jhulan Goswami and Anjum Chopra recently made a special appearance on the sets of Bigg Boss 19.
The duo joined Bollywood superstar Salman Khan on the latest Weekend Ka Vaar episode, celebrating the team’s monumental victory.
Sharing moments from the show on Instagram, Jhulan wrote,
“This month has been filled with many unforgettable nights, and this was definitely one of them. Had such a lovely time sharing the stage with @beingsalmankhan and @anjum_chopra on Bigg Boss 19. Can’t wait for everyone to watch all the fun moments!”
India’s long-cherished dream of winning the ICC Women’s World Cup finally came true after near misses in the 2005 and 2017 finals. The team clinched the title with a commanding 52-run victory over South Africa, powered by stellar all-round performances from Shafali Sharma (87 & 2/36) and Deepti Sharma (58 & 5/39) — an achievement that will inspire generations to come.
Celebrating the win, Jhulan took to X and wrote, “The wait was long, but the joy… unmatched.”
Anjum shared her joy as well, saying, “The girls have made our dreams a reality. Here’s to a glorious new era for the #WomenInBlue.”
Both Jhulan and Anjum, who were part of the broadcast team during the tournament, joined the players in emotional post-match celebrations — with Jhulan seen tearfully embracing skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.
A true icon of the game, Jhulan holds the record for most wickets in women’s ODIs (255) and retired in 2022 after an illustrious career spanning 12 Tests, 204 ODIs, and 68 T20Is, amassing 355 wickets across formats.
Anjum Chopra, another stalwart of Indian women’s cricket, represented the country in over 150 international matches, paving the way for the next generation of female cricketers.
