Jammu: A 55-year-old man was found engulfed in flames on the outskirts of Jammu on Monday, prompting an immediate rescue by police and locals, officials said.
The victim, identified as Puran Chand, a resident of R S Pura, was discovered completely on fire near Ring Road in Kotli Mian Fateh, under the jurisdiction of Miran Sahib Police Station, they added.
Police teams, assisted by local residents, quickly extinguished the flames and shifted the severely injured man to Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, for treatment.
A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team also reached the scene to collect evidence.
Officials confirmed that a case has been registered, and a comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities have urged the public and media to avoid speculation and await an official statement once all facts are verified.
