Srinagar: Police on Tuesday escorted the mother of the man suspected to have been driving the car that exploded near Delhi’s Red Fort for a DNA test in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
“We have taken the suspect’s mother to collect DNA samples to match them with the remains recovered from the blast site,” an official stated.
The suspect, identified as Dr. Umar Nabi, allegedly drove the Hyundai i20 that exploded near the Red Fort Metro Station parking area on Monday, killing at least 12 people, officials said. He is a resident of Koil village in Pulwama.
The suspect’s two brothers accompanied their mother to the hospital, officials added.
Meanwhile, three individuals connected to the sale and purchase of the car used in the blast have been detained for questioning, they said.
