CHANDIGARH: Punjab Police on Tuesday said it has busted a cross-border weapon smuggling network with the arrest of two individuals.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav identified the accused as Gurpreet Singh alias Gori and Vikramjeet Singh alias Vicky.

The Ferozepur police recovered six Glock 9mm pistols, four magazines, and four live cartridges from their possession.

According to preliminary investigations, Vikramjeet Singh had direct links with a Pakistan-based arms smuggler involved in illegal trafficking, Yadav said on X. He confessed to supplying weapons to local contacts under the instructions of his Pakistani handlers, the DGP added.

Yadav said Vikramjeet’s arrest also led police to an earlier case involving the procurement of an AK-47 rifle from the same cross-border network.

A technical analysis of the seized digital devices is underway to uncover the complete supply chain, including foreign handlers and local associates, he said.
