Sopore: In a major coordinated crackdown, Sopore Police on Wednesday launched extensive search operations across multiple locations in the Police District, targeting individuals and premises linked to the banned outfit Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), which is proscribed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

As part of a district-wide action to curb terror and separatist networks, simultaneous raids were carried out at over 25 locations in Sopore, Zaingeer, and Rafiabad areas with the support of other security agencies, officials said.

The operation was based on credible intelligence inputs suggesting that JeI-linked elements were attempting to revive their activities under new fronts, the police said.

During the raids, a substantial cache of incriminating material — including documents, digital devices, and printed content connected to the banned group — was recovered and seized for detailed examination. Several individuals were also detained for questioning to determine their involvement in unlawful activities.

According to officials, these operations form part of Sopore Police’s ongoing strategy to dismantle the terror-separatist ecosystem and disrupt its ideological and logistical networks.

The police emphasized that the actions were preventive and intelligence-driven, aimed at maintaining peace and preventing any group or individual from exploiting the local population or disturbing the region’s security environment.

Reaffirming its commitment, Sopore Police said it will continue operations against all individuals and entities associated with proscribed organizations and terror networks to ensure lasting peace, stability, and security in the district.
