Mumbai: Singer-composer Amaal Mallik became the target of some playful teasing from fellow Bigg Boss 19 contestants Gaurav Khanna and Pranit More after he opened up about the struggles he faced early in his music career.

In a newly released promo, Amaal is seen sharing the hardships of his initial journey, but the emotional moment quickly turned humorous as his housemates began pulling his leg.

Speaking to Gaurav and Pranit, Amaal said, “Meri bahut ladaai hai industry mein. I wanted to be a cricketer, but that didn’t happen. My first film flopped, and when I tried assisting other composers, no one hired me. They’d mock me saying, ‘Now you’ve become a music director.’ I felt so low that I called my aunt in New Zealand and told her I was coming there.”

His account soon had Gaurav and Pranit in splits. Gaurav quipped, “In times of tension, where does he go? New Zealand!” while Pranit joked, “Rich people’s life… we used to go to Shirdi.”

The banter continued with Gaurav adding, “If I had to go somewhere, my mausi lives in Kanpur,” and Pranit chiming in, “Our struggle was such that we could only manage one trip to the US. These are first-world problems.” To conclude, Gaurav laughed and said, “These types of problems, I can handle.”

Amaal Mallik—son of composer Daboo Malik and nephew of music director Anu Malik—made his Bollywood debut in 2014 with Jai Ho, composing three tracks for the Salman Khan film. Over the years, he has delivered several chartbusters and carved a dedicated fan base of his own.
