New Delhi: With security tightened across the national capital, Delhi Police on Thursday issued a travel advisory urging passengers to reach railway stations, metro stations, and the airport well in advance to avoid delays caused by mandatory checks.
The advisory follows a car explosion near the Red Fort on November 10, which killed 12 people and injured several others.
Joint CP (Delhi) Milind Dumbre stated in the advisory, “In view of the heightened security arrangements in the national capital, all passengers are advised to reach the railway stations, metro stations and airport well in advance.”
According to the guidelines, train passengers should arrive at least one hour before departure, while metro commuters are advised to reach 20 minutes early. For international flights, travellers should report to the airport at least three hours prior to departure.
Officials said the advisory aims to ensure smooth security checks, prevent last-minute inconvenience, and facilitate timely boarding amid intensified security measures at major transit points across Delhi. Authorities also appealed for public cooperation to maintain safety during this period of heightened vigilance.
Meanwhile, newly surfaced CCTV footage shows the prime accused, Dr. Umar Un Nabi, entering Delhi through the Badarpur border in an i20 car. In the clip, he is seen stopping at the toll plaza, taking out cash, and handing it to the toll collector.
Security agencies have also recovered diaries belonging to accused Dr. Umar and Dr. Muzammil, which reference dates between November 8 and 12—indicating that planning for the incident was underway during this period, sources said. The diary reportedly lists around 25 individuals, mostly from Jammu and Kashmir and Faridabad.
