DC Rajouri reviews enforcement actions to curb illegal mining

RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, yesterday chaired a meeting of the Multi-Departmental District Level Task Force Cell (MDDLTFC) to review enforcement measures against illegal mining and regulate the supply of minor minerals.

He sought detailed reports on six suspended minor mineral blocks/leases, whose operations were halted due to the expiry of environmental clearances and are now under consideration for extension to resume legal mining.

Emphasizing the need for strong inter-departmental coordination, the Deputy Commissioner directed officials to establish integrated nakas comprising the Police, Mining, Forest, and Excise & Taxation Departments for continuous monitoring of mineral transportation and extraction.

To further strengthen enforcement at the grassroots level, he instructed the formation of tehsil-level committees led by Tehsildars and Police Officers to supervise naka operations and ensure strict adherence to mining regulations.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Gaurav Sikarwar, assured full support from the Police Department in monitoring and assisting other departments during enforcement drives against illegal mining.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Malikzada Sheraz ul Haq; ADC Kalakote Tanvir Ahmed; ADC Kotranka Dilmir Chowdhary; ADC Nowshera Pritam Lal Thapa; ADC Sunderbani Ramkesh Sharma; SDM Thanamandi Abid Hussain; DFO Naveed Mughal; DMO Shafiq Ahmed; Divisional Officer PCC; and other district and sectoral officers.
