New Delhi: The government on Friday announced that a group of 24 senior officers from 23 partner countries under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme visited the headquarters of the Government e-Marketplace (GeM).
The visit was organised as part of a capacity-building initiative under the MoU between GeM and the Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management (AJNIFM).
According to a Commerce Ministry statement, the visit marked a major step toward strengthening international cooperation in digital public procurement reforms, reflecting the shared vision of GeM and AJNIFM to promote capacity-building, thought leadership, and procurement excellence across borders.
The ministry noted that the engagement enhanced global understanding of India’s digital procurement transformation and cemented GeM’s position as a global benchmark for transparent, efficient, and technology-driven public procurement.
“Our aim is to build a procurement ecosystem that is not only efficient but also inclusive. When buyers and sellers connect through a fair, transparent online marketplace, the entire country benefits,” GeM CEO Mihir Kumar said.
The programme offered delegates detailed insights into GeM’s digital architecture, leading procurement practices, and the transformative impact achieved across India. It also highlighted the limitations of traditional procurement systems and showcased how GeM’s technology-driven solutions are reshaping the public procurement landscape.
GeM reaffirmed its commitment to advancing global advocacy for digital public procurement reforms by sharing India’s expertise with partner nations and supporting the adoption of transparent, scalable, and inclusive procurement practices worldwide.
Recently, GeM also crossed a significant milestone, achieving a cumulative gross merchandise value (GMV) of ₹15 lakh crore since its launch in 2016—an achievement that underscores the growing trust of buyers and sellers in its vision of a transparent and efficient public procurement ecosystem.
