Esha Singh, Manu Bhaker in the hunt for finals after strong precision stage at ISSF World Championship

Cairo [Egypt]: Esha Singh and Manu Bhaker remain firmly in the race for a finals berth in the women’s 25m Sport Pistol event at the ISSF World Championship Rifle/Pistol 2025, underway at the Olympic Shooting Range in Cairo. After Thursday’s Precision stage, Esha is placed fourth, while Manu holds seventh position in a field of 85 shooters.

Olympian Esha registered 294-11x (98, 97, 99), and double Olympic medalist Manu shot 292-11x (98, 96, 98), keeping both Indian shooters well within reach of the leaders. The third Indian contender, Rahi Sarnobat, stands 56th with 284-7x (95, 96, 93).

Turkey’s Sevval Ilayda Tarhan leads qualification with a superb 299-12x (100, 100, 99). Paris Olympic silver medalist Camille Jedrzejewski of France (98, 99, 98) and Iran’s Haniyeh Rostamiyan (99, 99, 97) follow next, both scoring 295-13x, with the French shooter taking second place on countback.

Iran’s Golnoush Sebghatollahi and Mina Ghorbani occupy fifth and sixth positions respectively (both 292-13x), while Lin Jou-Yu of Chinese Taipei rounds off the top eight with 292-9x (97, 97, 98).

Only the top eight shooters after all qualification rounds will make the medal round. The Rapid stage is scheduled for tomorrow, with the final set for Friday (Nov 14, 2025) at 4:30 PM IST.

India currently stands second in the medal tally with three gold, five silver and three bronze medals, trailing China, which leads with eight golds and 15 medals overall.
