NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police have detained 23 foreign nationals for allegedly living illegally in the Dwarka area and have initiated deportation proceedings, an official said on Friday.
Police said that checks were intensified across the district to identify individuals overstaying their visas or residing in India without valid documents.
During the month-long crackdown, teams from the Bindapur, Dabri, and Mohan Garden police stations apprehended 23 foreign nationals.
Of those detained, 15 were from Nigeria, four from Senegal, two from Ivory Coast, one from Tanzania, and one from Liberia.
After completing the required legal formalities, all 23 were produced before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office, which subsequently ordered their deportation, police added.
