Mumbai: Veteran actress Kamini Kaushal was laid to rest on Saturday in Mumbai, where her family conducted the last rites in an intimate ceremony.

Despite her monumental contribution to Indian cinema, not a single Bollywood personality attended the funeral. While several celebrities posted tributes online, none were present at the Worli Shamshaan Bhoomi for the final farewell. Stars like Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Kiara Advani, and Shoojit Sircar mourned her passing on social media, but even those who had worked with her were absent from the ceremony.

Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, who appeared alongside Kamini Kaushal in Kabir Singh, shared heartfelt posts remembering the legendary actress. Kiara posted a picture of her and wrote, “It was an honour to work with you. Your grace, humility and talent inspired generations and left an unforgettable mark on Indian cinema. Rest in peace, Kamini Kaushal Ji.”

Shahid also paid tribute to his on-screen grandmother with a brief note: “Rest in light, ma’am.” Kareena Kapoor shared a photo of Kamini Kaushal on Instagram, adding a heart, rainbow, and folded-hands emoji as her condolence message.

Kamini Kaushal, whose illustrious career spanned over seven decades in Hindi films and television, is remembered as one of Indian cinema’s finest performers. With classics like Aag, Shaheed, Nadiya Ke Paar, and Ziddi, she became one of the highest-paid actresses of the late 1940s and a pioneering figure for generations that followed.

The stark contrast between Bollywood’s online tributes and their absence at her funeral has raised eyebrows.

Kamini Kaushal, regarded as India’s oldest living actress, passed away at the age of 98.
