LG Manoj Sinha pays floral tributes to nine victims of the accidental blast at Nowgam police station

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday paid floral tributes to the nine people who lost their lives in the accidental blast at the Nowgam police station, which also left 32 others injured, officials said.

Sinha offered the tributes at the Police Control Room here, they added.

According to officials, J&K Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, NIA Director General Sadanand Date, DGP Nalin Prabhat, Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava, GoC of the Army’s 15 Corps, along with officers from the civil administration, police, security forces and other agencies, also paid floral tributes to the deceased police personnel.

The victims included six policemen — State Investigation Agency Inspector Israr Ahmad Shah; Selection Grade Constables Javaid Mansoor Rather and Arshid Ahmad Shah (both Crime Branch photographers); Selection Grade Constable Aijaz Afzal Mir; and Constables Mohammad Amin Mir and Showkat Ahmad Bhat (all three with the Forensic Science Laboratory).

Also among the deceased were Naib Tehsildar Muzaffar Ahmed Khan, local chowkidar Suhail Ahmad Rather, and tailor Mohammad Shafi Parray.

Earlier, the L-G visited Ujala Cygnus Hospital and SMHS Hospital to enquire about the condition of those injured in the blast.
