SRINAGAR 15, Nov 2025: The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-K) hosted the ONE Health Conference, bringing together experts, policymakers, and researchers to deliberate on integrated strategies for public health, food safety, and environmental protection. The conference underscored the need for collaborative approaches to address emerging health challenges at the intersection of humans, animals, and ecosystems.
Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development & Panchayat Raj, Mr. Javid Ahmad Dar, addressed the gathering as Chief Guest. In his remarks, he emphasized that the concept of ONE Health is vital for safeguarding communities against zoonotic diseases, ensuring food security, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. He noted that coordinated efforts between medical sciences, veterinary sciences, and environmental disciplines are essential to protect the health of both people and livestock.
Dar highlighted the government’s commitment to strengthening institutional frameworks and supporting research initiatives that advance the ONE Health agenda. He called upon universities, research bodies, and civil society to work collectively in building resilience against health threats and in promoting awareness at the grassroots level.
The conference featured technical sessions, expert presentations, and interactive discussions on food safety, disease surveillance, and climate-linked health risks. Participants included distinguished scientists, public health specialists, and representatives from national and international organizations.
SKUAST-K reaffirmed its role as a leading institution in advancing multidisciplinary research and training under the ONE Health framework, with a focus on empowering communities and protecting ecological balance.
