Three people were injured on Monday after a wild boar suddenly attacked residents in the Thanamandi area of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

According to local sources, the victims were passing through a forested stretch near their village when the wild boar emerged from dense vegetation and charged at them. The unexpected attack caused panic in the area, prompting nearby residents to rush to help the injured.

All three victims sustained multiple injuries and were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Medical staff said the injured individuals are stable and receiving necessary care.

Following the incident, locals urged the Wildlife Department to increase surveillance in the area, citing a rise in animal movement near human settlements in recent weeks. They also appealed for preventive measures to avoid such incidents in the future.

Police and wildlife officials have taken note of the incident and are monitoring the situation. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious, especially while moving through forested or isolated areas.
