Altaf Bukhari today voiced serious concern over the alarming trend of educated youth joining terror ranks, describing it as a worrying development that poses grave risks to peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir. He noted that the involvement of well-qualified individuals in militancy reflects a deeper societal challenge that requires immediate attention from both government and civil society.

Highlighting the gravity of the issue, Bukhari stated that education is meant to empower young people to contribute positively to society, not to push them toward destructive ideologies. He emphasized that the participation of educated youth in violent activities undermines the very purpose of education and signals a failure in addressing their aspirations and grievances.

Bukhari urged the government to strengthen outreach programs, create sustainable employment opportunities, and provide platforms for youth engagement. He stressed that constructive policies must be implemented to channel the energy of young people into nation-building rather than allowing them to be swayed by radical influences. “Our educated youth are our greatest asset. If they are being misled into terror ranks, it is a collective failure that must be corrected with urgency,” he remarked.

He further called upon community leaders, educators, and policymakers to work together in countering radicalization and ensuring that young minds are guided toward constructive paths. Bukhari reiterated that safeguarding the future of Kashmir’s youth requires a holistic approach that combines education, employment, and social awareness with strong measures against extremist propaganda.

Concluding his remarks, Bukhari reaffirmed his commitment to protecting the interests of the youth and ensuring that their potential is harnessed for peace, progress, and prosperity. He appealed to authorities to act decisively, stating that the worrying trend must be reversed before it causes irreparable damage to the social fabric of the region.
