Winter Vacations Announced for Classes up to 8th Standard from First Week of December

Srinagar, November 19 — The Education Department has announced winter vacations for schools up to 8th standard, beginning from the first week of December. The decision has been taken keeping in view the seasonal conditions and to ensure the safety and comfort of students during the cold weather.

Officials stated that the schedule for higher classes will be notified separately, depending on academic requirements and prevailing weather conditions. The department emphasised that the move is aimed at balancing academic continuity with the well-being of children.

Schools across the Valley will remain closed for the notified period, with instructions issued to ensure that all pending assignments and examinations are adjusted accordingly. Authorities have directed institutions to communicate the vacation schedule clearly to parents and guardians.

The announcement has been welcomed by parents and students, who said the early onset of winter makes it difficult for younger children to attend classes regularly. The Education Department reiterated its commitment to prioritising student welfare while maintaining academic standards.
