New York, November 19 — Eric Trump, Executive Vice President of the Trump Organisation, has sharply criticised New York City’s mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, alleging that his views are divisive and harmful to the city. Speaking in a televised interview, Trump claimed Mamdani should focus on basic civic priorities such as safe streets, clean neighborhoods, and fair taxation.

Trump described Mamdani as a “socialist” and “communist,” accusing him of promoting policies such as nationalising grocery stores, defunding law enforcement, and pursuing controversial international positions. He warned that such an agenda could undermine New York’s global standing and economic strength.

Calling the situation “sad,” Trump argued that cities thrive when leaders concentrate on practical governance rather than ideological battles. He emphasised that New York City has unmatched potential if managed with stability and efficiency.

Mamdani, of Indian origin, recently won the mayoral race, becoming the first South Asian and Muslim to lead America’s largest city. His victory has been hailed as historic, reflecting the growing diversity and representation in US politics. Supporters say his progressive platform aims to address housing, taxation, and social justice issues, while critics remain wary of his policy direction.
