Jammu, November 20 — The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s State Investigation Agency (SIA) raided the office of the Kashmir Times in Jammu, recovering cartridges of AK rifles, pistol rounds, and grenade pins during the search. Officials said the raid was conducted as part of an investigation into alleged activities against national sovereignty.

The search took place at the newspaper’s Residency Road office, where investigators examined computers, files, and other materials. Authorities confirmed that the recovered ammunition has been taken into custody for forensic examination.

The SIA has registered a case against the publication, citing concerns that its content promoted activities detrimental to public order and national security. Promoters of the newspaper are expected to be questioned as part of the ongoing probe.

Kashmir Times, however, described the raid as an attempt to silence independent journalism, claiming that the action was politically motivated. The publication’s Srinagar office had previously been sealed by the administration in October 2020.

Officials stated that further investigation is underway, with the findings likely to shape subsequent legal and administrative action in the region.
