Jammu & Kashmir is set to host the 17th Annual Adventure Convention of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI), bringing together leading industry experts, policymakers, and adventure tourism stakeholders from across the country. The multi-day event aims to spotlight the Union Territory’s immense potential in adventure tourism and position it as one of India’s premier destinations for outdoor and nature-based experiences.
The convention will feature panel discussions, technical sessions, networking engagements, and field visits designed to encourage investment, innovation, and sustainable growth in the adventure sector. Delegates will include national-level tour operators, adventure sports professionals, environmental specialists, travel companies, and representatives from state tourism departments.
Officials from the Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Department said that hosting the prestigious ATOAI convention reflects the UT’s renewed focus on diversifying tourism offerings and strengthening its reputation for safe, high-quality adventure experiences. They noted that J&K’s unique landscape—ranging from mountains, valleys, and rivers to vast trekking routes—offers unparalleled opportunities for adventure enthusiasts.
The event is expected to provide a platform for showcasing emerging adventure circuits, promoting responsible tourism practices, and highlighting initiatives undertaken by the government to enhance infrastructure, training, and safety standards in the sector. Special attention will be given to eco-friendly tourism models and the role of local communities in supporting sustainable adventure activities.
In addition to conference sessions, delegates will experience curated adventure activities and destination visits aimed at giving them firsthand insight into the UT’s offerings. Organisers said this exposure will help national and international operators better understand the terrain and opportunities available.
The Tourism Department expressed confidence that the 17th ATOAI Annual Adventure Convention will significantly boost the UT’s profile and pave the way for stronger collaborations, increased footfall, and long-term growth in adventure tourism across Jammu & Kashmir.
