The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday sought time from the court to take instructions regarding the plea for interim bail filed by Member of Parliament Abdul Rashid Sheikh. The plea was submitted in connection with ongoing investigations into a case in which he is named as an accused.

During the hearing, the court noted the request from the NIA and allowed a brief adjournment to enable the agency to consult with higher authorities and finalize its stance on the interim bail application. No decision on the bail plea was taken during the session.

Abdul Rashid Sheikh, who represents his constituency in the Parliament, had sought temporary relief from custody citing personal and professional reasons, pending the completion of investigation. The NIA, while not opposing or supporting the plea at the hearing, requested time to submit a formal response after taking instructions from senior officials.

The court will resume proceedings on the matter on the next scheduled date, after receiving instructions from the NIA. Observers noted that the case continues to attract significant public and media attention due to the political stature of the accused and the nature of the investigation.

Authorities emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and all procedural safeguards are being followed to ensure fairness and transparency in handling the matter.
